Case Study

Small trials, stronger harvests

Each season we set aside two trial beds for berries and salad greens, testing compost teas, floating row covers and tighter succession planting against our usual routine.

Whatever wins the trial earns a place in the full rotation the following year. The losers get composted along with the weeds — tested on our ground, never on our customers.

How the trial played out

The Trial

Salad beds under row cover came up a full cut earlier, and compost-tea drenches kept berry foliage greener through dry spells.

The Practice

Winning methods moved into the main rotation with written bed plans, so every crew member repeats them exactly.

The Result

Longer picking windows, fuller crates and salad that holds its crunch all the way to the market stall.
